Has it been 39? I blame FaceBook. Tons has been going on, but much is repetitive, so I haven't felt compelled to journal it all.

Now we're in the throes of summer, so I'm trying to keep the kids busy without making myself crazy. We've had lots of bike rides, trips to the pool, farmer, and lots of gardening to keep us busy. The kids (as well as I) are enchanted by our composter.

We are planning on breaking ground on our new addition in the next few weeks. It's exciting and scary. When all is said and done, we will have added over 1000 square feet to the house. It's a three-level addition.  Makes ya dizzy. So many people have asked why don't we just move instead. We really love our house, the land we're on, the neighborhood, our friends, the street, and the schools. Plus in the current market, we would be hard-pressed to sell our house for what we'd need to buy a bigger house. Therefore...we build. We really like our architect and contractor. We all truly seem to see eye-to-eye. So, we're optimistic but know it's going to be a tough next couple of months.

In other news, I just bought the kids new sneakers and made some pumpkin muffins. I'm experimenting with gluten-free products, as my mom was recently diagnosed with Celiac Disease. My parents will be visiting next month (amidst all the construction-staying with my brother instead of us) and I wanted to have a few baked goods that she can eat.

Other than that, all is well. Hope all of you have been ok too.

The recession sucks - big time!

I had to sell my place in preparation for moving abroad...... and it basically brought in 70% of what it was worth 2 years ago! Not very happy about it... but hey, housing is cheaper over in NZ! And it took 5 months to find a buyer - I'm now living out of a large suitcase at a friends!

Exactly, and we wish to stay in the same housing market-specifically the same neighborhood. We'd never sell our house and buy a bigger one... Plus we love our little house- we just need it to be a wee bit bigger. :-) I've missed our communications! Thanks for checking in. :-)

Our house value has gone to shit too. We bought the house at 109,000, it appraised three years ago at 140,000 and when we tried to refinance last year we were told it wasn't worth 100,000. IE, we're FUCKED if we tried to sell it right now.

So glad you've decided to post. I have missed you're posts. :) I don't know if I have you friended on facebook. It's not like I use it very much. Too much information overload.

I've missed you too! Too much FB'ing and I let LJ slide. You are on my friend list on FB. I enjoy your music picks.

**laugh** And I just haven't jumped on the FB bandwagon. If FB was the ONLY way I communicated with anyone, then I'd be screwed because I really just don't like it very much. There are a FEW things I do like about it and one of them is the last.fm handshaking it does so that it pulls my music picks over there and displays them. That and the flickr handshake it does too. Beyond that, if it didn't exist, I'd be ok with that.

Thanks for reminding me about the last.fm handshake, I haven't used it much lately due to my iTunes usage.
